Your machine.
Your desk.
Check the fit.
The workstation runs your applications. The device in front of you displays the desktop and sends your input back. Here’s what each side needs.
The workstation
does the work.
Install the Remotle host on the machine where your applications and projects already run. Administrator or root access is needed to install it.

Windows host
Validated on 64-bit Windows 11. Use an NVIDIA graphics card with NVENC for hardware encoding, HEVC and full colour.
The installer can run on Windows 10 or later, but Windows Server is not supported.
Linux host
GNOME with GDM, on Wayland or Xorg. Supported distributions include Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 and 26.04; Debian 13; Rocky Linux, RHEL and AlmaLinux 8–10; and SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP6 or later.
Graphics and displays
NVIDIA NVENC provides the main hardware encoding path. Linux can also use VA-API where the driver supports it. Other configurations can fall back to H.264 encoding on the processor, with fewer picture options and more CPU work.
The host creates virtual displays, so the workstation does not need a physical monitor attached.
The device
in front of you.
Choose the app for your device. These are client requirements; the Linux workstation host supports a different set of distributions.
Windows
Windows 10 or later, 64-bit
Intel or AMD. Hardware H.264 or H.265 decoding is recommended.
Mac
macOS 13 or later
Apple silicon, M1 or later. The Mac app does not support Intel Macs.
Linux
Ubuntu 26.04 or later
64-bit Intel, AMD or Arm. Armbian packages are also available for Orange Pi 5, 5 Plus and 5 Pro.
iPad and iPhone
iPadOS or iOS 17 or later
Keyboard, mouse or trackpad, and Apple Pencil support.
The screens and tools
you work with.
Several screens
Up to four screens from a Windows, Mac or Linux client. Mixed resolutions and portrait screens work together. An iPad can use its own screen plus a connected external display.
Resolution and colour
Up to 8K, full colour (4:4:4) and HDR depend on the host encoder, client decoder and displays. Windows host HDR needs Windows 11 23H2 or later and NVIDIA NVENC.
USB equipment
Share USB devices from Windows, Mac or Linux clients, including SpaceMouse, pen tablets and licence dongles. USB redirection is not available on iPad or iPhone. The workstation needs the device’s normal driver.
Pen, camera and microphone
Pen pressure and tilt are supported on desktop clients, with Apple Pencil on iPad. Camera and microphone support is available across the client platforms; permissions and organisation settings apply.
Outbound connections.
Broker included.
Remotle needs outbound HTTPS and UDP access from both ends. There are no inbound ports to forward and no separate connection broker or VPN to deploy.
A network that only permits TCP or a web proxy can allow sign-in but cannot carry a session. Direct connections are used where possible, with relay fallback when needed. Resolution, motion and the number of screens determine bandwidth use.
